Great surround sound…but where are the speakers?

Are you looking for audio performance that impacts but doesn’t intrude on your interior design?

Have a look at this media room. iHome systems installed a 5.1 surround sound system for a very discerning client who wanted to minimize the visual impact of the sound system in the room. For the left center and right speakers we partnered with Leon Speakers to customize a soundbar to fit the exact dimensions of the Samsung 55-inch Smart television. Did you see it the first time you looked at the picture?

The two rear speakers are invisible ceiling speakers provided by Stealth Acoustics. They are centered between the two lights, are completely hidden from view and sound incredible. The subwoofer to the left is the only ceiling speaker visible.

iHome Systems Award winning home theater Morgan2We partnered with Merz Construction on this project whose incredible craftsmanship produced these custom cabinets and precise millwork. (The gap around every single cabinet door is identical! How do they do that!?)

Ouch! Nest stops Nest Protect alarm sales due to unsafe feature.

So Nest is getting a lot of negative press this week after a barrage of great press. One, a lawsuit we reported on earlier this week and now this, an open letter from the CEO Tony Fadell in which he calls into question the safety of the Nest Protect Smoke + CO2 alarm and announces that they will stop sales of the popular device until further testing has been conducted. That’s gotta hurt.

The problem? The Nest Wave feature that lets you wave your hand in front of the Nest Protect to shut it off in the case of a false alarm, and the potential for it to be inadvertently triggered leaving your and your home vulnerable to fire and CO2 poisoning. I’m sure a fix will come soon, but in the meantime, Nest Protect owners be wary. Here is what Fadell had to stay about the situation: Read full story

A new study from Parks Associates says that 4K adoption will match the rate of HDTV. If that prediction comes true, the custom installation market could see sales of products like Sony’s $15,000 4K VPL-VW600ES projector drive a new era of home theater sales.
